A multibyte blended code page, which contains characters out of two or more standard code pages.
Blended code pages support an increased number of possible language combinations within a single code page. They can be used in single code page systems and in MDMP systems.
Example:
The blended code page EUROJAPAN contains the majority of Japanese characters (standard code page SJIS) and all characters needed for Western European languages (standard code page ISO8859-1). In this case, EUROJAPAN is the system code page, while the frontend code page is selected according to the log on language (for example, Japanese). The same Japanese frontend code page is used in a SJIS system and in a blended code page system.
