The generic SAP functionsThese are the functions used in most or all countries, such as entry of invoices or goods receipts, or sales order processing.
Additional, country-specific functionsThese are functions used only in one or two countries, such as the reports for generating the United States' 1099 tax statements or the functions for handling India's excise invoices.
Country templateThis consists of master data and Customizing settings required for the system to function in a certain country, such as charts of accounts and tax procedures.
The standard SAP system contains more than 40 country versions. Since all standard country versions are contained within the same system, they can all run concurrently on the same client.
Nonstandard country versions, on the other hand, are delivered as add-ons and may not be mutually compatible.
