Definition format strings

FORMAT STRINGS title: format strings (SAP Library - Glossary)
FORMAT STRINGS category: NetWeaver-Voice (BC-SRV-NWV)
FORMAT STRINGS explained:

A way of indicating preferences for how data will be spoken by a SpeakAs function. Format strings are parameters passed through the options field in VoiceObjects. They consist of letters that represent various portions of the data to be spoken. Letters can be omitted from the pattern and the SpeakAs function will omit that part of the utterance. For example, a format string can indicate whether or not to include the day of the week when speaking a date.

All SpeakAs types that accept format strings define a specific set of characters that can be included, and a default pattern that is used if none is provided. The characters can appear in any order, and are not case sensitive. Characters can only be included once in the string. The order of the characters will not affect the sequence of the utterance.
