Explanation RELEASE: A decrementing of the reference count of an object. When an object’s reference count reaches zero, it is freed. When your code no longer needs to reference a retained object, it should release it. Some APIs automatically execute a release on the caller’s behalf, particularly in cases where the object in question is being “handed off.” Retains and releases must be carefully balanced; too many releases can cause panics and other unexpected failures due to accesses of freed memory.
