An exchange rate is a factor used to translate monetary values into a foreign currency.
With respect to a given date, exchange rates are generally distinguished between:

Current rateThe rate of exchange between two currencies that is valid as per the date of the financial statement.
Average rateThe rate of exchange that is calculated from the average of the exchange rates of different dates.
Historical rateThe rate of exchange that was valid as per the date of the purchase, production, or incurrence of an asset or a liability.
Monthly (average) rateThe rate of exchange for a specific month or accounting period.
This rate is generally an average of exchange rates.
