EXTERNAL CAPACITY explained:
Time-continuous capacity of a resource in SAP APO that is determined directly from the capacity data in SAP R/3 (or another external OLTP system).
If an external capacity is assigned to a resource, no other settings in SAP APO that affect its capacity are relevant.
