In SAP APO there are forms of procurement for external procurement and for in-house production.
SAP APO provides the following forms of procurement for external procurement:
StandardYou order a product from an internal supplier or an external supplier (vendor) and the supplier makes it available to you on the delivery date for direct consumption/usage or for stock.
ConsignmentThe supplier keeps a stock of materials available at his cost on your premises. The supplier remains the owner of the materials until they are withdrawn from the supplier's consignment stores. The withdrawals are notified to the supplier at regular intervals and settled accordingly.
SubcontractingThe supplier processes material made available by you in order to manufactur a product you have ordered or perform an ordered service.
SAP APO provides the following forms of procurement for in-house production:
In-house productionYou procure the product through in-house production at the planning location, i.e. the location at which you want to plan the product and enter receipts. The system generates a planned order with a source of supply for in-house production, the product receipt and component requirements for which lie in the planning location.
Production at other locationYou procure the product through in-house production at a production location that differs from the planning location. The receipt for a planned order created with such an in-house-production source of supply lies at the planning location, whereas the component requirements and the receipts for the co-products and by-products lie at the production location. In contrast to the form of procurement "in-house production", in the case of the form of procurement "production at other location", the planning and production locations differ.
